# AMD expects to outsell Intel in a quarter for the first time

AMD expects to outsell Intel in Q4, a first. Its data center business is surging on demand for Epyc processors and Instinct accelerators, while client hardware sales fall only slightly.

**Why it matters:** AI infrastructure spending is reshaping the CPU market as well as the GPU market. Intel's weak PC outlook and its shift of fab capacity to data center CPUs show it is chasing the same segment where AMD is already growing fast.
