# arXiv caps submissions at two per person per month

Starting October 2026, arXiv limits authors to two submissions per month. Monthly submissions have doubled in two years and grown more than sixfold in cs.AI. arXiv says a small fraction of authors are flooding it with low-quality papers that overwhelm volunteer moderators.

**Why it matters:** The main preprint channel for AI research is rationing access because of AI-assisted paper volume. This raises the cost of finding signal and may push credibility toward curated venues, while also hitting prolific legitimate authors.

**Topics:** research, policy
