# Google lets third-party AI agents control Google Home devices

Google launched early access to a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Google Home, letting AI agents such as Claude and Open Claw access smart home devices, review camera summaries, and act on connected-device data. Google says any MCP-compatible agent can use the integration.

**Why it matters:** This extends MCP's role as a de facto standard for connecting AI agents to real-world systems, following Meta's recent MCP server for WhatsApp Business. Letting agents control physical home devices also raises the stakes on agent safety and permissioning, since mistakes now have consequences beyond software.
