# Google signs largest-ever geothermal power deal, 396MW with Fervo

Google has signed a 396-megawatt power purchase agreement with geothermal developer Fervo Energy in Utah, described as the largest geothermal offtake deal in the sector to date. The deal is meant to supply clean, always-on power for Google's data centers.

**Why it matters:** Geothermal is attractive for AI data centers because it provides constant baseline power around the clock without batteries, unlike solar or wind, directly addressing the nonstop electricity demand of GPU clusters.
