# Spotify to label AI artist personas, hide them from recommendations

Spotify will add an 'AI Persona' badge to artist profiles that don't represent a real person, starting mid-September. Flagged profiles will be excluded from Spotify's editorial, algorithmic, and personalized recommendations by default, based on self-disclosure, human review, and AI detection tools.

**Why it matters:** This is one of the first concrete content-moderation policies from a major platform targeting deceptive AI-generated artist identities specifically, rather than AI-generated audio in general. It sets a template other platforms grappling with AI slop may follow: label and demote by default rather than ban outright.
