# Websites are blocking AI shopping and booking agents

*2026-10-17 · Source: [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1013195/ai-agents-blocked-web)*

Users of agents from Meta, xAI, OpenAI and others report being blocked on major sites. Yelp told TechCrunch it only allows agents that pay for its data licensing program, and Delta Air Lines is preventing them from booking tickets.

**Why it matters:** Agents depend on an open web designed for humans, and sites are now deciding who gets access and at what price. That points toward licensing deals and sanctioned integrations, like Shopify's agent connections, over generic browsing agents. It could favor large platforms with negotiating leverage over smaller agent builders.
