# YouTube Music adds 'Made with AI' labels to songs

*2026-10-14 · Source: [The Verge](https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/1011369/youtube-music-ai-label)*

YouTube is labeling tracks that were altered or fully generated with AI, including use of a generative model for composition and vocals. Music partners must disclose AI use, and YouTube may use other signals if they don't. The label appears on the player page, rolling out starting now.

**Why it matters:** Streaming platforms are being flooded with AI-generated music, and a major platform choosing disclosure labels over bans sets a template others may copy. The reliance on self-disclosure plus detection signals will make label accuracy the key issue.
