Google launches Gemini 3.7 Flash, cheaper and stronger at coding

Google released Gemini 3.7 Flash just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash, with algorithmic improvements to its reasoning core. It handles text, image, audio, and video with a 1-million-token context window, posts notable coding gains (43.6% vs 34.4% on FrontierCode 1.1 Main), and is priced at $0.75/$3.75 per million input/output tokens through the end of 2026. Google says GPT-5.6 Terra still leads on terminal and computer-use agent tasks.

Why it matters: A three-week release cadence signals Google is now iterating on frontier models at a pace closer to point releases than major versions, likely a response to competitive pressure from Anthropic and OpenAI. Undercutting the prior model's price by half while improving benchmarks continues a trend of rapid commoditization at the mid-tier pricing point.
