Meta expands Louisiana AI data center campus to 5GW, $50B

Meta is expanding its Hyperion AI data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana from 2GW to 5GW of capacity, raising its total investment there past $50 billion. Meta also said it will invest more than $1 billion in local infrastructure improvements.

Why it matters: One of the largest single AI infrastructure buildouts announced to date, underscoring the scale of compute investment underway.
