Trump's AI standards office loses another director
The director of the Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) has resigned, continuing a pattern of turnover since David Sacks left the role of White House AI czar. The position overseeing federal AI standards has effectively become a revolving door.
Why it matters: Frequent leadership churn at CAISI makes it harder for the US to set consistent AI standards just as it weighs major moves like sanctions on Chinese AI models. Instability at the top complicates industry's ability to plan around US AI policy at a moment of growing competitive pressure from China.
