AI-designed drug shows early signs of reversing biological aging markers
A study in Nature Biotechnology reports that rentosertib, a drug designed with AI by Insilico Medicine, was associated with reduced biological aging markers in an early clinical trial. Six independent aging-clock measurements estimated treated patients were biologically up to six years younger than the placebo group. The trial covered only 42 patients, and the drug hasn't been tested in healthy people.
Why it matters: This is one of the more concrete clinical signals yet for AI-designed drugs moving beyond target discovery into measurable patient outcomes. The small sample size and lack of testing in healthy populations mean it's an early proof-of-concept, not confirmation the drug actually slows aging.
