Amazon launches TorchNeuron to run PyTorch on its own chips
Amazon's new TorchNeuron developer tool aims to loosen Nvidia's hold on PyTorch, the free toolkit used to build most AI apps. The goal is to let more developers run apps on alternative chips such as Amazon's own.
Why it matters: Nvidia's moat is largely software, so smoother PyTorch support on Trainium is a direct attack on lock-in. Its success depends on real performance parity, but it pairs with other challengers' efforts like Tenstorrent's open approach.
