Anthropic launches Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent for professionals

Anthropic announced Claude Duet in research preview, built on Claude Opus 5.5. It is available as a standalone iOS and Android app and on the web. It sends a morning brief across connected apps, monitors them during the day, and messages only when something needs attention.

Why it matters: This puts Anthropic directly against Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots in always-on personal agents, moving the competition from chat to proactive, app-connected assistants. It also raises the stakes on permissions and security, given Microsoft's recent warning to treat agents like insider threats and sites increasingly blocking agents.
