Anthropic says it cut Claude reasoning-token extraction by up to 99%
Anthropic reports reducing extraction of Claude's internal reasoning tokens by 90 to 99 percent. It links large-scale distillation attacks to Chinese firms Zhipu and Moonshot and says it has banned tens of thousands of accounts.
Why it matters: Reasoning traces are especially valuable training data, so protecting them is becoming a competitive and security front, not just a terms-of-service matter. It follows Anthropic's recent usage-policy update on sustained abuse and signals more friction and geopolitical tension around model access.
