DeepMind releases atlas scoring 9 billion human DNA variants
Google DeepMind released the AlphaGenome Atlas, providing precomputed molecular effect predictions and variant impact (AVI) scores for essentially every possible single-letter change across the human genome, covering about 9 billion variants.
Why it matters: Precomputing impact scores for nearly every possible human genetic variant removes a major compute barrier for genomics researchers who previously had to run predictions themselves — a freely queryable reference like this tends to accelerate downstream research, the way AlphaFold's structure database did for protein science.
