Meta ran ads containing AI-generated child sexual abuse imagery
More than 50 offending image and video ads ran across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads, according to Meta's own ad library data. Some of the ads ran as recently as this week.
Why it matters: This shows AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) slipping through a major platform's ad review at real scale and recency, not a one-off failure, and is likely to intensify regulatory pressure on Meta. It also underscores how AI generation tools are outpacing the moderation systems meant to catch their misuse across platforms.
