MiniMax's open-weight H3 tops an AI video model ranking

Chinese AI company MiniMax released weights for its H3 video generation model. It is the first open model to reach the top of an AI video leaderboard, ahead of closed competitors.

Why it matters: This continues a pattern of Chinese labs closing or leading the gap with US closed models, here in video generation rather than text or reasoning.
