Musk says SpaceX and xAI will use Nvidia GPUs exclusively
Elon Musk said SpaceX and xAI will exclusively use Nvidia AI accelerators for training and inference, calling Nvidia's hardware the best available. He added that an optimized version of Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 system is planned to launch into space next year.
Why it matters: This cements Nvidia as the default AI compute vendor across Musk's companies even as rivals like AMD report major data-center revenue growth of their own. Putting GPU compute into orbit would mark a real step toward space-based AI infrastructure, an idea gaining traction as terrestrial power and grid limits, like Texas's recent connection freeze, cap how fast hyperscalers can expand on the ground.
