OpenAI adds $125/month ChatGPT Business tier for heavy agent use

OpenAI is rolling out "Premium Seats" for ChatGPT Business customers at $125 per user per month, five times the price of its existing Standard Seats. The tier removes the five-hour usage limit and provides substantially more capacity, aimed at users running agentic workflows that consume more tokens.

Why it matters: This is an early signal that flat-rate AI subscription pricing is breaking down as agentic workflows burn through far more compute per user than chat did, and other providers are likely to follow with usage-tiered pricing rather than flat fees. It shifts more of the cost of AI agents doing real work directly onto the customers driving that usage.
