Ukrainian drones hit Yandex AI data center used for model training
Ukrainian drones knocked out a data center belonging to Yandex, often called Russia's Google. One damaged facility hosts supercomputers used to train Yandex's AI model.
Why it matters: AI compute is now being treated as a military target, not just commercial infrastructure. With Russia already constrained by chip export controls, physical damage compounds its difficulty in training frontier models. It also raises physical-security stakes for data centers elsewhere.
