Pennsylvania requires labels on AI-generated ads
Governor Josh Shapiro signed the Artificial Intelligence Deceptive Advertising Act. Any ad, whether image, video, audio or text, that has been significantly modified or generated by AI must carry a disclosure in the same format as the ad. The rule applies regardless of where the ad originates.
Why it matters: Pennsylvania is among the first states to mandate AI disclosures in advertising, and covering small businesses as well as large brands makes it broad. A state-by-state patchwork like this tends to push national advertisers toward one labeling standard, and it adds pressure for federal rules.
