Reddit rolls out LLM-based moderation tools called Rules Hub
Reddit is expanding access to "Rules Hub," moderation tools that use large language models (LLMs) to judge whether posts or comments match the intent of a subreddit rule, not just its literal wording. Moderators can configure what happens automatically when a rule is triggered, with a full site-wide launch planned later this year.
Why it matters: Handing rule interpretation to LLMs at Reddit's scale is a real-world test of whether AI moderation can handle nuance better than keyword filters without over- or under-enforcing — a problem underscored by the Meta CSAM story above. If it works, expect other large platforms to follow with similar LLM-based rule enforcement.
