Tencent releases open WeVisOne-VL for detection, OCR and segmentation
Tencent's WeChat Vision team released WeVisOne-VL, an Apache 2.0 vision-language model in 2B and 4B sizes. One model handles detection, OCR, counting, segmentation and alpha matting, using a 9.6M-parameter pixel decoder.
Why it matters: Replacing separate specialist vision models with one small, permissively licensed model lowers the cost of building vision pipelines and makes on-device use more practical. It adds to the steady stream of capable open-weight models from Chinese labs.
