Linux kernel modules lift Nvidia half-rate AI throttle on RTX 20/30/40 GPUs
Hackers released Linux kernel modules that remove the half-rate limit Nvidia places on tensor operations on GeForce RTX 20, 30 and 40-series cards.
Why it matters: The throttle is a product-segmentation lever separating consumer GPUs from pricier datacenter parts. Bypassing it gives local AI users more throughput from existing hardware, and it adds to the pressure on Nvidia as it weighs per-GPU software fees.
